4 Days Gorilla trekking & Nyiragongo Hike
Tour overview
This gorilla and hiking safari will take you from Kigali in Rwanda across the border to DRC Congo and Lake Kivu. You embark on a hike to Mt Nyiragongo , the 3400m active volcano with the biggest permanent lava pond in the world. After watching the crater, we then descend and proceed to the northern side of the volcano. Visit the rare mountain gorillas on the foot hills of the Virunga volcanoes.
After, return back to Kigali.
Day 1: Arrival & head to DRC
Get to meet the guide and be transferred to Goma in Congo, have a briefing about the whole tour and then check in to your hotel. Have an overnight at Vip Palace1/Linda Hotel Goma/ Bethanie Hotel. Bed & Breakfast
Day 2: Gorilla trekking in Virunga National Park
Have breakfast and then the guide transfers you to the park station in Virunga National Park. Have a briefing about gorilla trekking by the park rangers, after proceed with gorilla trekking where you will meet
with meet with the mountain gorillas and be given 1 hour to interact with them. After, transfer back to the hotel for late lunch and dinner. Sleep in Goma town
Day 3: Hike Mount Nyiragongo volcano
Have breakfast in the morning and then transfer to Volcano trail head in Virunga national park. Get to start the hike at 8:00 am, hike for about 6 hours making to the crater rim. Have the whole evening to enjoy
the view from the crater and view the lava inside. Overnight in tents at the rim of the great crater high above the active lava lake.
Day 4: Descend back from Nyiragongo and transfer to Kigali.
Have breakfast and then start your descend by 7 or 8 am. Reach at the trail head before lunch and transfer back to the hotel for refreshments and after transfer to Kigali for relaxation or catch a flight back home.
