Day 1: Arrival and have a city tour in Kigali
The company professional guide will surely greet you and then take a briefing about your safari. You will also enjoy
a city tour, this is Rwanda’s capital city that was named in 1907 by Dr. Richard Kandat, who was the first colonial
resident governor of Rwanda. It’s also the main administrative and economic center of Rwanda. It’s also
surrounded by the lush hills of green, it’s also the cleanest and safest city with in the region. Kigali’s face is her
affluence, a beauty from which its name is derived. There are also other causative factors, it’s also a city that
delights the minds and the eye of any visitor and is also a city were the past lives with the present. On this tour, you
will view many attractions including; the 1994 Gisozi Genocide Memorial site, the artisan shopping center, Kigali

Day 2: Transfer to Akagera National park and have a game drive in the evening
Transfer to Akagera National Park and pass through Rwanda’s phenomenal land scape and the living life style. You
will also check in at the lodge and then rest for the evening, you will also continue with a southern game drive
alongside Lake Ihema circuit. There are also many animals that can be seen including the elephants, giraffes,
zebras, hippos and the crocodiles and many mammal species. It’s also known as one of the most of the scenic
savannahs in East Africa, the game drive with in the Akagera and this gives you an opportunity of viewing the gentle
hills that blend the beautiful with the lowland swamps and the water bodies. On this day, you will get chance of
activities like; the evening walk around the hotel where you can view many bird species, participating in the day to
day local pastoral lifestyle, and the performance on the ecology of the the park ecosystem and the conservation
efforts.

Day 3: Have a northern game drive and then transfer to Butare via Kigali
Early in the morning, have a morning game drive that will start with a beautiful sunrise and the early morning bird
calls. You also get to enjoy the fantastic scenery and the land scape through the northern circuit were you will see
the crocodiles, hippos and more wildlife species on the lake circuit. Also transfer to Kigali for a quick lunch and also
to Butare which is the original capital and the intellectual center of Rwanda. You will go through the magnificent hills
and the cultivated countryside, stop along the way and also visit the famous King’s palace in Nyanza that offers the
visitors a window into the pre-colonial Rwanda history. Those who are interested, we can also visit the art museum
at the Rwesero Nyanza.
Day 4: Drive to Nyungwe Forest National park
In the morning, you will start with a visit to the National museum of Rwanda, which provides you with a deeper
insight into the Rwandan history as well as the culture. We can then continue to Nyungwe Forest National park.
Nyungwe is the only destination in the world where you can see over 13 species in the single location. Some of
these include; the chimps, blue monkeys, white colobus monkeys, L’Hoest’s monkeys, the Angolan monkeys and
many more. Nyungwe also has a unique wonder in primate tourism due to its high concentration of the habituated
primates whose troops also include 400 to 500 individuals.
Since it’s the most important ornithological hubs in Rwanda, the park is also home to over 300 bird species, making
it a bird watcher’s paradise. Along the way, we will also have a stop at the new visitor’s interpretive Centre to turn
you to this magnificent park and then off to your hotel to check in and have lunch. In the afternoon, you spend it
trekking to the Colobus Monkeys. You will hike through lush forests, endless, green tea fields and also take in the
views of your surroundings.

Day 5: Enjoy chimpanzee trekking
Enjoy an early morning trek of chimpanzees and this will depend on the available time. We shall also participate in
tea harvesting with in the nearby local communities. You will as well tour the tea factory and then learn about the
production process of one of the highest quality tea produced with in East Africa.
You will also visit the local artisan groups so as to learn and also participate in this and other local community
income generating projects. This is also a good chance to buy the locally made crafts and the products. You will
also listen to a presentation on the ecology of Nyungwe Forest National park and the conservation efforts which
include; the managing of the dynamics and the co- existence of the park/ the local communities and the wildlife.

Day 6: Transfer to Kibuye as you drive along the shores of Lake Kivu
Lake Kivu is also one of the great lakes in Africa and is the largest of the fresh water lakes that radiance in the
albertine rift of the Great Rift Valley. This lake also stands at 1461m above the sea level inaugurating it as Africa’s
highest Lake. The northern side of the lake is also subjected to the eruptions from the nearby Mt Nyiragongo.
Kibuye town is also Rwanda’s most attractive of the lake ports situated in many interwoven and the rolling hills and
then give the visitors the beautiful views of the lakes, its Islands ate nearby surrounding country side. It’s also
considered one of Rwanda’s hidden treasures, with the lush green hills and the peaceful breeze.

Day 7: Visit the LÉsprerance Children Orphanage and the Village
You will also have a visit to the L’ E sprerance Orphanage and the children’s Village an d it’s also situated in
Kigarama near the Kibuye town that will give you a firsthand view of how large the organizations and the donations
from the individuals have also helped these children’s village to curl and have funded many innovative projects in
and around the villages. You can also chose to spend the day there and help out in case you can relax by the lake
for the rest of the day.
Day 8: Drive to Gisenyi
Early in the morning, we will then proceed to the town of Gisenyi. With the waterfront and the sandy beaches as
well as the views of Lake Kivu. Gisenyi is a very good place to relax and we will spend a relaxing and reenergizing
time or we can also offer you the opportunity of a value added activity as follows. A visit the springs and learn about
the geographic make-up of the Virunga volcanic chain, have a tour to the local projects in the area, and a visit to the
local artisans and the local women weaving association. After return to the lodge for your overnight.
Day 9: Transfer to Iby’Iwacu Cultural Village in Musanze district
Have a morning transfer to Musanze district were you will visit and also stay with the IbyÍwacu cultural village which
is based in the community bordering volcanoes National Park. In this village, you will have a great experience as
you learn all about Rwandan traditions, culture, dances and the songs. You can also participate in the local dances
and the drumming as you are wearing the Umushanana dress, the shooting arrows, attending the traditional
healer’s medicine show you and have a chance to taste the local food and the banana beer and visit a local house
hold or the school. More so, you will also visit the local community projects and the co-operatives to view how you
travel with us contributes to the lives of the local people.
Day 10: Enjoy Gorilla trekking in Volcanoes National Park
Have breakfast in the morning at the hotel and after report to the offices for the registration for the gorilla trekking.
After, you will be driven to Volcanoes National park were the trek will start accompanied by the rangers. Gorilla
tracking also takes from 1 to 8 hours and viewing these species is by chance. You are given 1 hour to stay with
them as you are accompanied by the park rangers who have spent all their lives living with these creatures in the
forest. The trek will also be so exciting as you also go through the vines, the giant lobelias and the moss covered
Hagenia trees that grow with in the tropical climate. Gorilla trekking is active but worthwhile on meeting these gentle
giants. The keenness of your coming across with the apes will take away your complexity of the active trek. You
spend time as you are watching the gorillas, you view the adults feeding their young ones, resting and brushing as
the young ones play from vines in the playful display.

Day 11: Enjoy Golden Monkey trekking
The golden monkeys are also the most endangered primates in Africa and is also endemic to the albertine rift. The
Virunga troop is also the only feasible species left. The young ones are also small and so playful so they are so
enjoyable to be watched. These are mainly living on the lower reaches of the ark that makes the trek so short to
find them. And when the trek is complete, we can also drive to the lodge, have coffee or tea as you enjoy the views
of the twin lakes, Lake Ruhondo and Butare and the Virunga mountain chain.

Day 12: Transfer to Kigali, Do some shopping at Sina Gerard Urwibutso Project
Drive to Kigali and you will also have a stopover at Nyiragarama for your lunch and then have a chance to safari the
Urwibusto eco-tourism project. This also started in 1983 nwhen the owner and the manager SINA Dernard opened
a small restaurant as well as the bakery at the location. Many years, his business grew and it has been his mission
since the year 1993 to become a leader with in the production and the processing of the organic fruits and the
vegetables in Rwanda. The enterprise also supports the local farmers and then contributes to the social and
economic development with in the area hence providing schools and education and creating jobs and opportunities
for the women and training of the farmers.
